Went to see Shen Yun, the other night. It's a traveling Chinese dance show. It's basically ballet, just, Chinese dances. They depict some old Chinese fairy tales and legends and do other traditional dances. Went with the wife and kids, everyone enjoyed.
What I did not realize though was that the whole thing is part of the outreach for Falun Gong (along with the newspaper The Epoch Times - which I do like). They had a few segments where they kinda preached at the audience about Falun Gong through their storytelling and singing, which was unexpected. Had some dance scenes depicting the persecution of Falun Gong in communist China and accused them of organ harvesting. Was quite interesting to say the least. I'm sure some people were annoyed by it because they weren't expecting to get preached at and it makes the whole thing feel like it was just a bunch of song and dance in order to lure people in to hear their message (which really, yeah, it was) - but, the song and dances were so good and nice, it's okay.
I even purchased the 2 main Falun Gong books of canon- the one on philosophy and the one on their meditations. They were selling them out in the hallway. Figured might as well educate myself more on them, and they seemed like good people.

I learned by reading an article ( Stepping Into the Uncanny, Unsettling World of Shen Yun )after reading your message that the show was American and not Chinese as I thought beforehand. Art leads us in all sorts of different directions depending on the individual. I went in China few years after that. |

Sounds like kind of a negative article - but that doesn't surprise me too much, since the people involved with Shen Yun (and by extension Falun Gong and The Epoch Times) are very anti-communist and by extension, probably anti-leftist in general. They also value traditional morality and aren't in favor of all the LGBT stuff and openly call the theory of evolution a lie, too. So, they probably make a lot of enemies politically, even in the US.
As for the show, it was all Chinese people involved - but yes it was organized in New York City. But a lot of the Chinese people looked very first generation Chinese, second generation at most. They had a host give narration between performances and a Chinese speaking co-host with him who said everything in Chinese.
But yeah, it will be interesting to learn more about Falun Gong.
Going to China sounds epic. How was it? I hope you had a blast - that whole area of the world is so wonderfully different.

Going to China sounds epic. How was it? I hope you had a blast - that whole area of the world is so wonderfully different. Really different. I had been intrigued for quite a while before going there, curious to disentangle the true from the false of my preconceived idea. I was amazed by the richness of this ancient culture. Faced with today's reality. Yet no matter where we are, human beings are the same. What sets us apart, in general, are the values that guide our life choices. |

The things that happen returning to work after 2 days off. Lol
I think my team lead put in her 2 week notice. We hired 2 people for the department I work in and I get to train them. How well will dudes work out in keeping things not messy, sloppy and making sure the stuff is done right? We'll see. Definitely need a change for he better and improvement of the business.
People cant continue the way it's been behaving in places of business or they wont have anywhere to go in person and browse at items and buy.
And businesses need to implement that opening products is unacceptable by consumers. That's a waste regardless of salvaging the item. Stop being wasteful!
It's bonkers.
And here's the best part, There's been people smoking crack or fentanyl (probably fentanyl since that's the trendy drug) in the public restrooms. That's toxic for anyone and has been making people feel sick when around it I guess.
We gotta have better standards when we talk big shit about a better society. Big business ain't gonna lose money from not having addicts in the building.

Things are changing around here.
Was informed yesterday evening about something and I'm not surprised, because there is clearly mental illness going on. HPD is suspected based on observations over the years and NPD. Hope she stops avoiding seeing a therapist and psychiatrist and gets moving forward to getting the help she needs mentally.
Happy kids are a blessing, but the instability and disconnect from the mother is a form of trauma. They don't even ask for her. Just going to do what I can to help the grandkids feel loved.
Also would appreciate seeing a change in my mother's home. She needs to get rid of unnecessary stuff taking up space. She will not let go of such, she makes excuses as to why she needs to keep whatever nonsense is there. She has attachment issues to items. It's overwhelming.

I burnt the back side of my throat, near the entrance with coffee being too hot few days ago. I didn't realize that until today. Thought I was getting a sick with a sore throat. It fucking hurts and can take up to 2 weeks to heal. I get to eat cold and boring soft foods. I'm not patient wit this healing, I like food!
