Love this song, but your explanation on it just made me go into overthinking of relations, in the end....to only be impossible and then there is the lyric "the impossible is possible" Time for listening to "Suffer" or "Panopticon" idk maybe Speed Kills..............
One of my fav's from The True Poets of Zwan. Kinda sucky live audio, but imagine what this could have sounded like in the studio. Here's to hoping we get a re-imagining of it or something when the Zwan box set comes out. So much great unreleased stuff, entire albums worth of material...I also really loved the positivity of Zwan. It still had that trademark Billy sadness and gloom, but with a more forceful emphasis on hope in spite of it. Really inspiring and uplifting, and it rocks.
I'm gonna admit that I never really knew what this song was about - except that it deals with themes that seem to touch on turning away from light/God to darkness, and also seems to have a sensuality to it in the lyrics. Is it a song about God and carnality? You tell me. But it sure is a catchy song. One I find stuck in my head very often. Apparently the loop was also originally supposed to be part of a rap song involving Shaq, if I remember right, which is rather hilarious.
I lie, I wait I stop, I hesitate I am, I breathe I meant, I think of me
Is it any wonder I can't sleep? All I have is all you gave to me Is it any wonder I found peace through you? Turn to the gates of heaven, to myself be damned Turn away from light It's not enough, just a touch It's not enough
I taste, I love I come, I bleed enough I hate, I'm not I was, I want too much
Is it any wonder I can't sleep? All I have is all you gave to me Is it any wonder I found peace through you? Turn to the gates of heaven, to myself be damned Turn away from light It's not enough, just a touch It's not enough, just a touch It's not enough, just a touch It's not enough, just a touch It's not enough, just a touch It's not enough, just a touch
In one of the most political Pumpkins songs ever, the question is posed to the current generation exactly what do we care about and if we don't care, do events matter? The song seems to address a certain apathy. "I don't know what I believe, but if I feel safe, what do I need?" Definitely a song that captures much of the "Zeitgeist" of the current political era. With technology and mass media information overload and regurgitation of junk news, it becomes more difficult to care. The song ends with a spiritual call to battle in the face of said apathy and corruption. One of the Pumpkins' best hard rocking songs, in my opinion. And Jimmy of course kills the drums.
This song almost feels Adore-esque in its themes. A song perhaps about watching someone you love struggle, and struggling with them. The weaknesses in them, and the weaknesses exposed in yourself. The love that binds the pair together through it all, and the empathy that must be felt for the other. If he could only go through some "circular change" and trade places, maybe he could do the fighting for her. But that is impossible, and at some point the fight must be carried on and finished by the person going through it. A touching song from the early Teargarden days (Spirits in the Sky, to be exact) and a fan favorite that still hasn't been heard of in any demo form. Here's to hoping it will see the light of day somewhere down the road in a Teargarden By Kaleidyscope re-issue (what I see as the culmination of what TBK would ultimately be meant to be.)

Song of the Day: Where Boys Fear To Tread
candy cane walks down to build a bonfire, to break my fall my baby, my sweet thing just maybe we could lose ourselves this time king of the horseflies, dark prince of death his tragic forces are heaven sent in sweet things, in a lovers breath in knowing this was meant to be the last a go-go-kids, a go-go-style a suck suck kiss, a suck suck smile as always, in young need a veiled promise to never die on dead highways, her black beauties roam for june angels, so far from home for a love lost, a faded picture to tread lightning, to ink the lavender skies so get on the bomb get back where you belong get on the bomb
I often get this one stuck in my head. I love the opening. I'm getting a kind of dangerous, rebel love vibe from this song. Someone you are attracted to and want to be with, but who is unpredictable, sometimes very hurtful to you, yet maybe you're still drawn to the person or the situations that person is always in. She seems to have some kind of mission or purpose underneath it all that is fueling her rebellion and wandering. Or maybe a sense of purpose, without knowing exactly what it is, but seeking to find it. In the end, driving her to self-destructive tendencies. Oh, and "get on the bomb" is coming off like a sexual reference to me. Just saying.

i just can't shake Circular Change. I wanna say it needs the studio treatment, but I am afraid of it being ruined. Though, it could also be a lot better, who knows. But I actually really liked the violin and flute in it.

it's an amazing song. I can't believe people in fanworld don't support it more, but I guess they miss the mark on how great it is because they are stuck in old album land, and believe me I go there too, but I move on to post 2000 music he's written too. I guess as you age the music he writes is relevant to being an adult and not so much a teen/college student. I'm curious how demos sound of this song, you know damn well he has some.

I found 2 sets of lyrics
For the first time I can make you smile From the magic bag of the ancient child I'm here to swear I'm here, to trace the lines.....
Caroline you'll lose, I'm more to bear But it's your time, it's your time now to fight It's your time, it's your time now to fight.....
In the middle of the morning, I rolled downstairs Itching for an opening of one who cares In the middle of a forest, where we get lost I'm calling out the minutes of a phone call, I lost my thoughts
From the doldrums of a slack job weighed Come the mystique's of a misplaced thing, with one chance To settle on the streets, we'll settle on the one way street Where you found me, a one way chance to test your years
I'm here to scream I'm there, to chase the lights It's your time, it's your time now to fight It's your time, it's your time now to fight It's your time, it's your time now to fight.....
In the middle of a hunger, I yelled your name My heavy metal thunder comes re-arranged, and ain't it strange?
It's your time, it's your time now to fight It's your turn, it's your time now to fight But it's your time, it's your time now to fight It's your time, it's your time now to fight.....
Don't settle on the streets, don't settle on a one way street Where you found me, a one way chance to catch your years
for the first time i can make you smile from a magic bag of the ancient child i'm here to swear i'm here to trace the light
caroline you mused I've more to bear
but it's your turn, it's your turn now to fight it's your turn, it's your turn now to fight
in the middle of the morning i roam downstairs itching for an open wound to cast
in the middle of a forest where we get lost i'm crawling up the middle 'til i fall apart i fall apart
from the doldrums of a slack jawed waif come the misdeeds of a misplaced faith with one chance to settle on the street to settle on the one way street where you found me a one way chance to test your heat
i'm hear to scream i'm there to change my life
but it's your turn it's your turn now to fight it's your turn it's your turn now to fight it's your turn it's your turn now to fight
in the middle of a hunger i yell your name my heavy metal thunder comes re-arranged and indiscreet
but it's your turn it's your turn now to fight it's your turn it's your turn now to fight it's your turn it's your turn now to fight it's your turn it's your turn now to fight
don't settle on the street don't settle on the one way street where you found me a one way chance to catch your peace
