I hope he does leave! Disgusting that the organization backstabs its members for leaving.

Disgusting that the organization backstabs its members for leaving. Yes. That does not happen in the LDS church. Never.

haaaaaaahahahaha, oh shadowmaker. I'm just laughing because I think it's funny you found that. Of all the places for that to pop up again.
Kate Kelly practically begged for it. I followed that whole thing from the beginning. I feel sorry for her but she asked for it in every way possible and was warned repeatedly. Obviously she has sympathizers, but you don't go about politically campaigning and protesting for change in God's Church like it's the 1960's, that's not how it works, God's Church isn't a democracy. And that applies to any Church that claims to be God's own. If she had just kept her actions on the level of having an open dialogue, instead of causing trouble and basically trying to lead a rebellion against Church leadership, she never would have been excommunicated. It'd be no different if this was the Catholic Church.

Aside from that, there is no reason why a woman can't be in the priesthood! Its like saying God only speaks to mormon men and only gives them messages. I'm sorry but that seems totally off its rocker.

there's a doctrinal reason for it - and it's not to have men lord over women, because the priesthood isn't about that - it's actually all about men and women having equal, but different roles that work harmoniously together.
if you were to take the priesthood and change it from being something that men (generally) exclusively have, and let all women have it too, women would have all the power and leverage. The reason is that in the Church, women are already revered and respected just because they are women and mothers, and the role of motherhood, of being able to bear a child yourself, is considered a special privilege, one that men are unable to know or understand, and it gives them a certain connection, and with that, rights (in a sense) that men also don't get.
On the other hand, men don't have anything special that sets them apart in that way. So something has to be given to them, and that's the priesthood.
I guarantee you, men and women have equal roles in the LDS Church. And I guarantee you, if women had the priesthood, all the men would sit back, be lazy, and let women run everything - which they would do, but they'd also all bitch about it at the same time.

So what you're saying is the rules of the church are specific roles for men/women? So two gay men, one clearly feminine.....what category would his role fall into for men/women roles in the church?

Sounds like a bit of discrimination. Pretty sure that will change in 50 years or less, pending on how much money the church receives from some big corporation for supporting gays/transgender/crossdressers

I might agree with you if I thought my Church were led by men alone or if I thought God was going to change his mind or something. But I don't.
Everything sounds like "discrimination" these days to people who don't get what they want.

Perhaps, or it actually comes down to treat people as equals and not as if they are nothings
