I finally sat down and really listened to motherlove bone today. Funny that ive had this album for years and thought it was too underproduced and 70s influenced but today ifinalyy got it! Its a really solid record.
Interesting history behind this song...was written by Hal David and Burt Bacharach in the 60's...recorded as a demo by Dionne Warwick, then first charted by Lou Johnson...covered and recorded by a list of artists, a few being The Troggs, Peggy Lee, Dusty Springfield...
then there's the version we all know...(the most famous)
I am glad you enjoyed it! My friend pointed out that the singer is similar in tone as another singer, but I think there are style differences that make the singer of Elbow much more emotive and honest.
I found a copy of Tame Impala at the library, havent listened yet tho.
