If it's kept, probably because it's a reassuring place, a known shelter. In my opinion, the fact to speak about it means being no more necessary in your life.

Id consider giving the item to someone, but i would not want to pass on the negativity that thing has to someone else and it possibly cause hell in someone else's life because I am not that type of person. And burying it would leave it possible for someone to find later. That is not ok imo.

There is an old women who informed me about how she has a lot of stuff (she keeps buying more & more) has no room in the place she lives. Yes, she is a hoarder. Recommended her to read a bit about feng shui. Also mentioned that she could try getting rid of a few items every day and decluttering her home would actually make her feel pretty good . She was evicted out of her place once for this hoarding. Hopefully she takes on the advice. She buys things as a momento of her younger days. For example... she bought some skirts to possibly sew other things onto them (she used to do that apparently??) But she knows she wont do it now days and buys items anyways.

Bought a feng shui book a few years ago (had like 3 or 4) put it away and found it recently, anyways, looking in this one today and am kinds mind blown from it. It contains info about the 5 elements and 9 stars, based on year, male/female, and birth month. I'm an Earth Star 8 and the health section is what actually has mind blown me. It says: "As your type tends towards becoming sedentary, you could develop chronic illness. It is very important for you to completely uproot illness at the outset. You need to be scientific about food intake and get regular exercise. You are prone to digestive and intestinal complaints and circulatory problems.
UM WOW! nailed it! I had colon cancer

Im totally down with this theory. If something isn't used by me in 6 months it goes to the thrift store. Objects and books get gone a lot in my house, I don't need them staring at me like Ive got to use them.

For some people as they get older, they downsize. No point in having items of no use taking up space.
