My theory is that the human race as we know it, as descended from a Biblical Adam and Eve, is possibly something altogether different from the other humanoid/subhumanoid races.

When you look at pre-history, it's all pretty stagnant and slow moving in its advancement for tens of thousands of years, until around 4,000 B.C., which is around the time the Biblical account refers to the existence of an Adam and Eve. So my guess is that it was, on some level, the start of a new human race, and it was with the Adam and Eve and their chosen lineage of descendents that things really began to advance in the world.
